TTT: Operation Christmas Child
Okay, some of you may think I’ve gone over the deep end when you realize this post is about Christmas… but before you lose your marbles and shout at your computer, “I just survived Halloween!!” hear me out.

Okay, so most TTT’s are focussed on the actual teaching part of teaching. But, there are other parts of the job that I believe are pretty darn important too… and that my friends, is the social part.
B and I spent the weekend in our backyard getting everything ready for the longgg cold winter. This meant putting away our patio furniture, raking, and pulling out my beloved garden. It also meant digging up the last bits of my root vegetables: beets, carrots, and potatoes. With an abundance of beets on my hands I thought it would be an appropriate time to share my all time favourite fall soup recipe… borscht!
Fun fact: I interned in a high school, teaching Grade 9 Language Arts, Social Studies, Health, and Grade 9-12 Dance… so, you can imagine my first few months of teaching Kindergarten were quite the adventure! One of the MANY things I quickly learned when I began my journey as a primary teacher is the amount of brain breaks they need. Not only do they LOVE it, it is actually imperative to their learning. I could go on forever about how important they are, but instead you can read this little article here.
I kid you not, I wore this dress 3 times while in Maui and if you follow me on Snapchat (holly_horvath) you would have already known that. It is seriously the most perfect vacation dress. It is beautiful (those sleeves though…), comfortable (thank gawd, mama had a few too many fish tacos and pina coladas 😉 and the best part, it’s under $50 (from a website called Zaful)!!
To be honest I planned on sharing this post before I left for Maui but I simply ran out of time… between getting ready for Dawna’s wedding, making a 4 day sub plan, and packing, time was of the essence and I failed miserably at getting this post out. But, desperate to find the positive I realized that this is actually better as I can now tell you, 5 days into my trip, what I actually used not what I thought I might need.
I have always been a big fan of a good blouse, but this season has taken my love for them to the next level. The details I’ve been seeing are absolutely gorgeous, from high necks to flared sleeves, I seriously loving it all.
I feel like the luckiest human!!! If you follow me on Snapchat then you would know I’m in Maui for the week. There are about 15 of us staying in a gorgeous house, beach front for the week to celebrate our friends, Dawna and Taylor’s wedding!!! It actually feels like a dream!! Anyways enough about that, you will get more than enough Maui fun on my social accounts (Snapchat , Facebook, & Instagram)… shameless plug 😉
