Today’s post is different than usual but is close to my heart. I was approached several months back by the Canadian Safe School Network to help roll out their #STANDTOGETHER campaign and without hesitation I said yes. I couldn’t be more honoured.
Every year I tend to find one dress I wear on repeat all summer long. Last year it was this Free People trapeze tunic with shorts underneath. This year it will be this Black Swan midi/maxi dress. It is actually the most comfortable dress, ever! The only downside are the spaghetti straps… and I only say this because I can’t wear it to work!
Often when trends introduce themselves it takes me a while to warm up to them. For example, the come back of bell bottom jeans is something I have been trying to get into for over a year now and to be honest, I’m just not sure I ever will. I like it, but as far as loving it goes, I’m just not sure I can commit to that level.
As many of you already know, I’m training for the Lululemon Seawheeze marathon in August… many of you may also know that I am NOT a runner. In fact, I don’t really enjoy running at all. Why run 21km you ask? Well, I’m not very good at saying no and I suffer from serious FOMO (fear of missing out) so the second my sister asked, I of course, agreed! So, how do I get myself psyched for running? The same way you get yourself psyched for a job interview or first date, a new outfit… duh!!
Well, I made it!! I can’t imagine how the volunteers and directors of the event are feeling… I was just a spectator and I am exhausted! Hats off to everyone involved in Saskatchewan Fashion Week, it truly is one of my favourite events to attend, well done!
Well guys, I literally just walked in the door from night one of Sask Fashion Week and although I’m pretty tired my mind is going a million miles a minute! What an amazing evening! Every year the event is better than the last and this was no exception. There was a great mix of designers and retailers, with everything from jewelry and sunglasses to ball gowns… I’m not going to go much into the actual runway shows I will cover that later. Instead, I’m going to answer the age old question “what did you wear?!”
Sask Fashion Week is this week/ weekend… and although I love the event it is stressful trying to get ready in a rush. The event is always on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday so that means for two of the days I, (along with most other humans who work full time jobs), need to get my bootie from teacher mode to glam mode in a jiffy… luckily this isn’t my first rodeo and I have some experience with this. Let me share what I’ve learned…
I don’t know about where you live but here in Saskatchewan, Canada it feels as if summer has officially arrived! With temperatures sky rocketing to above 30 degrees celcius it has had me reaching for my summer dresses and I am NOT complaining! I absolutely love the no fuss, grab and go easiness of putting on a dress in the summer, and let’s not forget about how comfortable they are. Ah, I hope I’m not dreaming and summer is actually here to stay… let’s all cross our fingers, k!?
Mother’s Day is one of those days I always look forward to, I love the idea of dedicating an entire day to the one who has truly shaped who I am today. Typically my sister Heather, who lives in Edmonton, flies home for the weekend and we host a big ladies brunch! We prefer to do this rather than going out, it’s just much more casual and relaxed… waiting in line for an overpriced buffet really isn’t our style.
