3 Reasons I Love Hello Fresh

I love Hello Fresh.  Yes, I am sponsored by them and have been for a few years now so I can see why you may be hesitant when reading this but I can honestly, hand on my heart, I lOVE it.  If they cancelled my sponsorship I would continue to order Hello Fresh and here is why:

1.) My food waste has been substantially reduced since ordering them!  This was a goal of mine this New Year and Hello Fresh has made this easily achievable.  I typically order the 2 person plan which is the perfect amount for me to enjoy dinner and then left overs for lunch the next day.  On occasion I will order a four person plan which is perfect for entertaining! Yes, I understand the argument that all the little packages are wasteful and there is a lot of plastic.  I hear you but hear me (or I guess them) out.

  • Their boxes are made from post-consumer recycled fibers and are 100% recyclable themselves. Add all paper-based items to your blue box.
  • The liners are made from FSC-certified sustainable cardboard and pulper-safe film and are fully recyclable.
  • The ice packs are filled with a non-toxic salt solution. You can re-use them for a picnic or in a lunch box. Once you’re finished, sinply melt the ice packs, cut open the bags, pour the non-toxic solution down the drain (using hot water to dissolve the gel), and recycle the plastic casing. You can also inquire about their ice pack return program by emailing them recycling@hellofresh.ca
  • Their carbon footprint is 33% lower than meals made with grocery store ingredients — thanks to pre-portioned ingredients being sourced straight from the supplier, which reduces food waste.

2.) They make the best gift.  I am at that stage in my life where my friends all seem to be having babies.  Showing up at your friend’s place with a coffee is always nice, but if you want to see a new mama’s face really light up, stop by their house with a Hello Fresh in hand and ask if you can cook dinner for them. I guarentee you’ll make their day… probably even their week!

3.) It sparks my creativity.  I am always being introducted to new ingredients and recipes that I keep in my repetoire.  If you’ve been around here for a while, you will know that I really enjoy cooking but I am bad for making my same old favourites over and over.  Some of my favourites Hello Fresh recipes include Roasted Cauliflower and Bulgur Pilaf and Lemon Chicken and Goat Cheese.
