Sleeping With Hush – Weighted Blanket Review

Ahh! It feels so good to be able to share this long awaited post with you! I am FINALLY sharing my thoughts and opinions on the weighted blanket.  Thank you so much for being patient- it has been a journey and because these blankets are a bit of an investment I wanted to make sure I used it for a while so I could give an honest and detailed review.

I have been struggling to get a full nights rest for about a year now. It all started when I went through my break up and moved out… I guess you could say I had a lot on my mind, haha!

But, fast forward nearly a year and I was still having issues!  I had no trouble falling asleep, it was the staying asleep part that was tough for me.  I was constantly waking up in the night with ideas /do lists for work, to go pee, or my favourite: what will my life look like in a year type of thoughts… honestly, Holl?! GO TO SLEEP! It seems to me I may have a bit of anxiety that likes to come over me especially when I slow down, or in this case, when I try to sleep.

So, a few months ago, my bestie, Nicole and I went on a mission to find something that would help me get a full nights rest! First stop, Bed Bath & Beyond!  We browsed the bed section and I ended up dropping a wad of cash on a weighted blanket, this one to be exact.  I took it home and could hardly wait to jump into bed!

Here is how it went:
Night 1- Wow! This is legit and so cool.  It feels like I am getting a gigantic hug all night. I love hugs.
Night 2- Hmm, I’m super restless and this blanket is annoying me. Why does it keep falling off the side of my bed? 

Okay- that’s not exactly how it went,  but you get my drift.  I loved the blanket when it was on top of me and the beads (or whatever is in the blanket to weigh it down) were even but that literally only happened when I took twenty minutes to even them all out.  The second I moved they all shifted to the one side.  Picture a gigantic bean bag, that’s the best way to describe the blanket.  The idea was there, but the execution on this blanket sucked.  Lol, ok I’m sorry that sounds childish, but that’s the only word I can think of to describe it… DO NOT BUY IT!

So, I did what any consumer does these days,  I googled best weighted blankets and that is how I found Hush.  I was instantly drawn to these blankets as I could see they were quilted which would help the glass pellets stay even throughout the blanket… genius! I was sold.  I returned the old blanket and anxiously awaited my new one.

From the second I opened the box and pulled the blanket out I noticed a difference.  The exterior is made from “minky” threading which is just a fancy way of saying it’s soft AF.  I originally laid the blanket over top of my duvet but I have since removed my duvet and I just lay right under the blanket. I prefer it this way, it’s so cozy! When I picked it up I instantly noticed it was a lot heavier than the previous one.  Unlike some other weighted blanket companies, Hush helps you order the right weight for your body.  It sounds complicated but don’t worry it’s not.  Simply get the blanket that’s 10% of your body weight. And, if you’re in between weights, go for the heavier blanket.

I have been using the blanket for about a month now and I am hooked!!!  I can whole heartedly say it is worth every penny. Don’t get me wrong there are still nights I wake up (mostly to go pee lol) but they are a rarity now.  And when I do wake up, I am able to fall back asleep a lot faster.  I use weighted vests on some of my students and it makes a huge difference for them so I am surprised I didn’t think to try a blanket for myself earlier!

So, if you’re having issues sleeping or you have anxiety I highly recommend this blanket.  It’s seriously like one big hug… who doesn’t love hugs?!!
