Bootie Love || Poppy Barley
I have been a fan of Poppy Barley for years now. I was first introduced to the brand by the one and only Jillian Harris. Originally I was drawn to the boots for the obvious reason, their look, but after researching the Canadian brand I fell in LOVE with the story and moral beliefs behind this company.
Fast forward a year later and I find out they’re having a pop-up in Regina (my city) at Hillberg & Berk and they need my help spreading the word. Um yes, I’d be happy to share their story in fact I’d like to shout it from the rooftops because it is SO RARE in the fashion industry to find a company with such a strong moral compass.
So, I thought I would share 5 reasons you need to check out the Poppy Barley pop-up shop at Hillberg & Berk:
1.) The shoes & boots are cute and COMFORTABLE!!! “Our shoes are so comfortable you’ll forget you’re wearing them, but so damn beautiful, you’ll feel dressed to kill every. single. day.” If that isn’t a motto you can stand for (literally) I don’t know what is!
2.) Buying shoes from them will make you feel proud. “You’re smarter than the fashion industry is giving you credit for—and your feet deserve better. We all know the story—appalling working conditions, low-paid workers, uncomfortable and poorly made products, and high markups that don’t reflect the value of what you’re wearing. Enough is enough.” Need I they say more?
3.) They’re Canadian! Two sisters from Canadian being boss babes… I LOVE that!
4.) They make CUSTOM fashion boots to order online. Yes, you just read that. You do the measuring and these babies (yes, in my books any custom made boots are considered babies) will be hand-crafted and at your door within 7-8 weeks!!!
5.) Real shoes, made by real people, for real real people. Designed in Canada and made in León, Mexico. Poppy Barley screens its’ factories for positive working conditions, including fair Wages and Benefits, Worker’s Rights and Freedoms, Health and Safety, and Training and Opportunity. They’re transparent about their manufacturing. Want to know more about their factories? Read about it here!
I personally own the Two Point Five Ankle Boot and they are BY FAR the most comfortable pair of boots I own… I am thinking I’m going to need them in another color! I have styled them with cuffed denim (never tuck your denim into an ankle bootie) and a sweater/jacket combo for a cozy chic look. I can also see myself wearing these with dresses, skirts, and even denim cut-offs in the summer. Yes, the summer! These will not be taking a season off, I fully plan on wearing these throughout the year! Although the heel on these are a little shorter than I typically wear, the v cut out at the ankle and the pointed toe create an elongated look which is bonus for us shorties!
So, now that you’ve completely fallen in love with the story behind Poppy Barley, it’s time to fall in love with their product! For the first time ever, they’re popping up in REGINA! They’ll be setting up shop at Hilberg & Berk’s new Headquarters on November 3 and 4th with their new Winter 2017 Collection, including best-sellers, accessories and our Men’s line. Secure a one on one shopping experience where they will ensure a perfect fit with their extended sizing, or help you find a style that’s ready to wear today! Book here.
I’m planning to pop by on Saturday to try on the their heeled mule… will I be seeing you there?!
