Bags & Books: DUVAL
If you’ve been following me for a while you will know there are certain types of companies that hold a special place in my heart (and wardrobe). Those companies are ones that are truly trying to make an impact on the world. DUVAL is one of them. A Canadian company, specializing in handcrafted bags and accessories, all while donating 10% of their net profit to charity, need I say more!?
If you’ve seen me bumping around YQR or on Instagram, you may have noticed I’ve been using the same purse for about the last month and a half (since I received this one), and I don’t plan on changing that anytime soon! As much as I love this bag, I am even more in love with the idea behind this company. The charity they’re supporting right now is the Textbook Project. This is a charity that helps to provide textbooks to schools in Kenya… the teacher inside me is bursting with joy!!! The current ratio of textbooks is around 1 book per 5 students. Being a teacher in Canada definitely has its challenges but I can’t even imagine trying to teach with limited supplies. The Textbook Program aims to reduce that to 1 textbook per 3 students. Now, if that doesn’t make you feel good about spending money on a handbag, I don’t know what will!
Of course, if you’re going to be spending a couple hundred dollars on a handbag, you’re going to want to love it, right?! The quality and craftsmanship of these leather pieces are second to none. The size of this bag is perfect for day to day errands, a night out, or even travelling! I took it to Mexico with me last month and it was fabulous- I like taking a smaller purse so my shoulder doesn’t get sore when I am out and about sightseeing! The Meraki Town Cross Body bag is the perfect size! Although I personally like the Meraki the best, they have a nice selection of different sizes to choose from.
