National Teacher Day || Callia Flowers
Yesterday was National Teacher Day and I came home from the Teacher’s Convention to two beautiful boxes sitting on my doorstep. I was instantly intrigued by the shape and then noticed “fresh bouquet inside”… insert heart emoticon here! I opened the package and realized that Callia had not only sent me a gorgeous farm-fresh, hand-tied luxury bouquet for National Teacher Day, but they also sent a second one for me to gift to another teacher, HOW cute?!
It didn’t take long to decide who was deserving of this beautiful gift. Although I am blessed to have worked with lots of amazing people over the last few years, there is one women who instantly came to mind.
Erin and I met 6 years ago when we both moved into the red hallway of our school the same year. She was returning after a maternity leave and I was a fresh new teacher only having two years under my belt. We instantly clicked. It was like we had known each other for years! Although I taught Grade 1 and she was assigned Grade 2, we often planned special days like Christmas, Halloween, and the 100th Day of School together- she was the perfect teaching partner! Fast forward a few years and she got promoted to the Vice Principal position at our school. Although, I missed having her as a teaching partner, she was an even BETTER admin. Supportive, fun, kind, organized, and most of all REAL. Erin is the kind of admin you want to work with your entire career. She cares about the students and her staff. She genuinely cares about what you have going on in your life (in and out of school) and tries her best to support you in any way that she can. As many of you know, last year was one of the hardest years of my life and I really don’t know if I would have made it through some of the days, if it wasn’t for her. Just walking through the front doors and seeing her bright smile made going to work, (even on the days it felt hard) better. Erin has since moved onto a new school and I miss her so much, but I can’t help but be filled with complete gratitude that our paths crossed!
Four kids, a wife, and a full time job as a VP… cheers to you, superwoman! I really have no idea how you do it all! Thank you for supporting me and being such a wonderful friend!
