Spring is here and so is Saskatchewan Fashion Week

One of the first things that comes to mind when I think of Spring is Saskatchewan Fashion Week. You know, kind of like when you think of Winter the first thing you think of is Christmas?! Yes… I am comparing SFW to Christmas, I like it that much! Sask Fashion week is on May 11th-13th, tickets are now on sale and you should probably hurry because they always go fast! Weekend passes are already sold out but individual night and VIP tickets are still available, you can purchase them here!

Carrie Bradshaw once said, every spring the women of New York leave the foolish choices of their past behind and look forward to the future… this is known as Fashion Week. Here in Saskatchewan it’s very similar. However, instead of leaving our foolish choices behind we leave our parkas, boots, balaclavas behind… To some those may be considered foolish fashion choices, to us they’re necessary #saskyliving

My personal favourite part of Sask Fashion Week is definitely the runway show but there is so much more to the weekend! After parties, which are open to the public, and of course, the designer pop-up shop which is sure to make a healthy dent in your wallet. The designer pop-up shop is where I purchased my Rebecca King sweater so many of you ask about- it was Sask Fashion Week who first introduced me to the talented designer.

What I Wore: Sask Fashion Week (Night 2)

Well I don’t know how tomorrow night is going to top tonight’s show… ahhh I just had such a blast!! Some of my favourite retailers showed tonight and I loved seeing their stuff hit the runway. Ben, I mean 22Fresh, was awesome as per usual! They are known for not taking the runway event so serious and having a little fun and I just love that about them. And Cade, of course I want/need everything!! So much to talk about but I am sleepy and need to reserve energy for tomorrow, one… more… night!!!

What I Wore:

I grabbed this Alice + Olivia romper a few weeks ago from a local boutique here in Regina, Marbella! I know what you’re thinking… Alice + Olivia is crazy expensive, and it was. But here is how I justified the insane price tag.

1.) Look at it!!! I mean it is just adorable. The pattern, the fit, and the cold shoulder… need I say more?! 2.) Versatility!!! This romper is fit for a million and one occasions… a fashion show, a dinner date with girlfriends, vacation wear, a wedding shower, and so on. I would much rather spend a little more on something I will wear several times than spending little less on something I might only get to wear once. If you agree great, if not… to each their own!
3.) I had a gift card. I don’t know about you but when I have a gift card I love putting it towards something I wouldn’t normally buy and treating myself… yes, this was a big treat!

Anyways, I decided to pair the romper with these fun shoes I grabbed from Aldo! I loved the yellow… it just screams spring!

What I Wore: Sask Fashion Week (Night 1)

Well guys, I literally just walked in the door from night one of Sask Fashion Week and although I’m pretty tired my mind is going a million miles a minute! What an amazing evening! Every year the event is better than the last and this was no exception. There was a great mix of designers and retailers, with everything from jewelry and sunglasses to ball gowns… I’m not going to go much into the actual runway shows I will cover that later. Instead, I’m going to answer the age old question “what did you wear?!”

A few months ago Sage Wosminity approached me about designing something for me to wear to the event and I, without hesitation, said yes! If you’ve been following me for a while you will know that we’ve built a friendship over the past few years and I was totally honoured when she asked me. I am totally obsessed with every part of this outfit! The skirt flowed so beautifully with slits and the crop added the fun factor… I swear the girl can do no wrong, thank you, Sage!

One of my favourite things about Sask Fashion Week is scanning the crowd and seeing the diversity in the outfits. If you’re heading to the event this weekend and you’re stressing about what to wear, DON’T! Literally anything goes and I love it!! Jeans and a crop, a ball gown, boyfriend denim with a bodysuit, a romper… the possibilities are endless, as long as you have confidence and a smile on your face you can’t go wrong!
