Alright, let’s cut to the chase… the sizing! The Black Stone and Sand are slightly different in length even though the dress is identical. There are a few reasons for this but the main is that the fabric is SLIGHTLY different. So, when we got the dresses made (in L.A) the black came back shorter than the Sand.  Instead of disposing of these (I would hate to see these all just sit in the landfill) we decided to keep them and pivot slightly. So, the black dresses are definitely catered more towards petite people… anyone 5’2″ and under.

Now,  that is not to say it won’t work for anyone taller than that but just know it will be shorter (2 inches to be exact) than the Sand if you do decide to order both. If you are ordering the black and you are comfortable or prefer a short dress, you would be fine to stick to your true size but if you like the dress to be a touch longer, I would say size up at least one size.  I have had a lot of questions if it will be too big everywhere else and the answer simply put is no.  It will give you more fabric to drape in turn providing more length! For the record, I am wearing a size medium in the black and I am 32 weeks pregnant and have quite the bump already.

As for the Sand, it is slightly longer than the original Ray that was released last Spring (Blush and Mustard)  but is the SAME length as the Olive and Rust Ray’s that were released in the Summer/ Fall.   I am wearing a size small in the Sand which is my regular size.

Below is a size chart for you- please take some time to look it over before Saturday if you want to order so you are ready as soon as the dresses go live!

The Hanley

The Hanley is almost as if the Kincaid and the Vanguard had a baby! The length and fit is very similar to the Vanguard and the fabric is the same as the Kincaid. Although this dress has spaghetti straps, which are typically not appropriate for work, you can simply add a blazer or leather jacket over top or throw on a blouse underneath. I love the details on this dress: the pockets, the wooden buttons, and the belt! This dress comes in three beautiful colours: rust, oatmeal, and black!

The Ray 2.0
The Ray was the most popular dress from our first drop and for good reason…It is ADORABLE! It’s fun, flirty, and seriously comfortable! This dress is definitely on the shorter side making it fun and flirty for a GNO or simply add some tights and booties and you have a fall look that you can wear to work. The OG Ray had an elastic in the sleeve, this updated version doesn’t have that. The Ray 2.0 also comes in two new BEAUTIFUL colours: rust and olive… both which are perfect for Fall and Winter!

Well, fast forward a few months and it feel SO RIGHT! This capsule collection has been such a fun project to work on. I have always dreamed of doing something like this so when Zoe from Finding July reached out and asked if I would be interested I was all in! There are 5 pieces, one two piece set which is absolutely freaking adorable, and four dresses which are also just the absolute cutest. For real, I can’t decided which is my favourite!

While putting together this collection, my prairie roots were my biggest inspiration. From the mustard yellow, sage green, and oatmeal colours reflecting the crops my family grows, to the dresses being named after small towns throughout Saskatchewan, there are prairie influences found throughout each piece.

As I was selecting the pieces for this collection I had a few things that I kept in the back of my mind. In fact, these factors are in my mind as I’m doing any shopping:

1.) Versatile. This is so important to me. I try to only spend my money on things I know I will get a tonne of wear out of.
2.) Affordable. We all work hard for our money and I want to be respectful of that! All of these dress are under $100!
3.) Comfortable. I love dressing up but it is just as important to me that I am comfortable in what I’m wearing!

Ok, enough of me chatting… let’s get to the dresses! Oh, before we start for size reference I am 5’4″, I typically wear a size 25 or 26 in jeans depending on the amount of stretch, and a size 2 or 4 in dresses.

The Ray
Although it’s hard to pick a favourite, this was the one that caught my attention first so I named it after my hometown, Raymore.  This babydoll style dress has a feminine and flirty feel to it and because it is uber comfortable, it’s one that I reach for often.  It comes in two colours mustard and blush. I’m wearing a size small. This dress is meant to have an oversized feel but because the fabric drapes beautifully it is still very flattering.  The buttons are functional so if you are a breast feeding mama this dress makes life a whole lot easier for you!

The Haddington Checkered Babydoll Dress
This dress is VERY similar to The Ray Babydoll but has a few slight differences. The pattern is obviously different but the sleeve length is slightly shorter and doesn’t have an elastic, the fabric is a touch lighter, and the buttons are wooden! Again, very similar but slightly different. I absolutely love the pattern of this dress, it is subtle yet makes a bit of a statement.

The Kincaid Tunic
This is what I imagine to be the perfect mom-ing outfit… again, don’t hold me to this, the only kid I have has four furry paws but from what I have heard this would make a great mom uniform! It’s a great length, it hits me just above the knee. The buttons on this dress are also functioning which makes it easy to take on and off, again making it perfect for new mamas! The Kindcaid comes in three colours: sage, oatmeal, and black! I can’t wait to wear this teaching with a denim jacket over top to cover the spaghetti straps, or if you’re not into a denim jacket it could be layered with a white t shirt underneath!

The Vanguard:
I love a good midi dress and this is no exception. It is lightweight but don’t worry it’s not sheer and just like the rest of the dresses, the buttons are functioning! This dress can easily be dressed up with heels and some accessories for a summer wedding or shower but can also be thrown on over your bathing suit and worn barefoot down to the beach making it the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe!

The Maryfield Two Piece Set
The second I laid my eyes on this set I knew it had to be a part of the collection! It is just darling, honestly that is the best word to describe it! Whether you decide to wear it as a set or separately you’ll LOVE this! Anytime I wear this set I get tons of compliments and you will too!
