If you’ve been hanging out with me for a while, chances are you’ve seen some of my previous posts with BD- or you’ve seen me wearing their jewels on my IG stories! I have been wearing my new engraved initial necklace nonstop.  I especially love it because they engraved it on both sides.  One side has an S for my sweet boy, Sunny, and the other side has my initial.  I don’t know what it is, but there is just something about engraving that makes it that much more special.

As you all know I am currently travelling around Australia and will be heading to the San Fran, Banff, and L.A in the next few weeks.  I vowed to travel light(ish) this trip because lets face it, I never wear half the clothes I pack and I love to shop!  The same goes for jewelry.  I decided to pack a tiny earring container of stuff and that’s it.  In that tiny box I made sure to pack my Brooklyn Designs choker and ring.  They have been perfect for accessorizing on this trip because they literally go with everything!  The choker looks great by itself or layered, and the ring compliments the ring that my sister got me for my 30th birthday beautifully!

Fun fact, Brooklyn Designs pieces are often found on the bachelor & bachelorette contestants!  Becca has been wearing it non stop this season and it makes me feel extra cool, haha!

Sorry about the tangent but for real… I do not like following rules, haha!

However, sometimes it is nice to have some guidelines when you’re trying something new.  If that’s the case, I’ve got you!! Here are a few things to keep in mind to help you feel confident while layering necklaces:

1.)Pay attention to the length of the necklaces you’re purchasing or choosing, if layering is the look you’re trying to achieve.  The length of the necklaces are important and will allow them to lay properly.  My favourite trio as of lately have been the following lengths:  15″, 18″, & 28″!

2.) Feel free to mix metals- this is a question I get quite often.  I say GO FOR IT!  Have fun! However, if you’re going to mix metals with your necklaces I would suggest doing it with your other jewelry as well to keep things balanced.

3.) Often when we think of layering necklaces it’s summer and we have more skin showing.  But that is not the only time it can work! Try layering with your knits- it’s such a beautiful way to add details to any look!!
