1.) I am outgoing but I don’t particularly enjoy going out.  Strange, I know, but the older I get the more I cherish my time at home.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy going out for a nice dinner or grabbing some wine and tapas with my girlfriends, but if I had to choose between going out or staying in, I would almost always choose staying in.  My favourite nights include wine, a homemade charcuterie board, a good movie and bags of candies for dessert if I’m feeling extra.

2.) I like washing my car – wand wash, to be particular.  This was one of my jobs growing up on the farm.  My dad had a pressure washer at the shop and it would be my job to wash the trucks.  I hated it then but now I actually enjoy it!  With that being said, my Jeep is dirty 90% of the time because, well, life… but you know, I try!

3.) I am crazy sensitive.  This surprises a lot of people and that’s why I included it. I come across super confident and chill, which for the most part is true but I am also that girl that over analyzes everything.  Words stick with me forever and I often find it hard to let things go.  I don’t bring it up but I do carry it with me.  This is definitely something I am working on…

4.) My favourite genre of music is 80’s & 90’s country.  Nothing feels more like home than listening to the request line on 620 CKRM on Sunday mornings!  I am obsessed.

5.) I HATE scary things.  Scary movies. Scary musics. Scary podcasts.  I am just not interested.  Maybe it’s because I live alone now but I seriously just do not understand why anyone would want to be scared!!

The holidays were so good to me.  I totally relaxed and well I still am… I don’t go back to work for FIVE MORE DAYS!! Isn’t that crazy!? I love time off.  There are few better feelings than going to bed without having an alarm set, BUT those who know me well, know that I thrive off routine and structure.  I love that go go pace.  Call me crazy but I am excited to go back to work on the 8th!

Where was I? Oh right, the holidays!  I spent a good portion of them at my parents farm.  My sister, her husband and their fur babies were down from Edmonton for a short visit so we took full advantage of our time together.   We drank more wine than I’d like to admit, played a bunch of board games, and sat in the hot tub for hours having some real life conversations (it’s amazing what leaving your cell phone inside will do!!)  Other than that, I’ve been watching movies, cleaning out random drawers, visiting friends, playing more games, and sleeping in and doing anything besides working on my blog.

Yup, you read that right.  I haven’t been working on my blog.  I have also had a lot less of a presence on my Instagram and it felt… good.   (that was strangely hard to admit) If I’m going to be honest, I felt a little burnt out. That creative fire that had been burning inside of me was starting to fizzle.  I had heard of other creatives having this issue but I hadn’t experienced it.  I will admit I was a little embarrassed, ashamed to admit it, and even denied it a little claiming I was just busy with school, the holidays, and well, life.  But having two weeks off to do literally nothing and still not feeling the itch made me finally realize I was in fact feeling that creative burnout.  Typically I would try to fight this feeling and just push through but considering it was the holidays I decided to just embrace it.  I stayed up late, watched movies in the middle of the day, baked, hung out with friends, cleaned, went into school, shopped, organized and just did a whole lot of nothing- and it felt AWESOMEEEEE!

Then, just as I was mid writing this post, (I started it last night and just wasn’t feeling it) I took a break to scroll Instagram (shocker) and came across this post: 
This was EXACTLY how I was feeling. It’s the New Year and everyone is out there sharing the best of 2017 and their goals and aspirations for 2018 and here I had two weeks off and I couldn’t even get my shit together to do a NYE outfit post.  BUT after reading @designlovefest’s Instagram post I realized I am not alone in this feeling.  It is totally normal maybe even healthy to feel this way.  The more I think about it the more I realize we ALL feel meh every once in a while.  Not that I needed it but it sure feels good to have that reassurance!

So, just as Bri said, I am going to be easy nice to myself and let myself feel this way.  I’m already feeling better and dare I say inspired?!

Personally, I feel the more the merrier!!  I follow so many bloggers and I’m always discovering new ladies (and sometimes men) that I enjoy seeing on my newsfeed.  Each one of them bring me some kind of inspiration.  Maybe it’s a new recipe I want to try, a trend I am loving but I’m still not exactly sure how to put it together and make it my own, a coffee table to complete my living space, or an adorable dog that will remind me to book Sunny’s next hair appointment!

If you’ve been an OG Teach Me Style reader, it would be no shock to you that Jillian Harris is a huge inspiration for me! I adore her and I genuinely trust in what she is doing.  She gives honest reviews and I’ve never been disappointed ordering anything she’s recommended- for example: these overalls.  They are from Forever 21. I have nothing against Forever 21, but I have never been overly happy with their denim, but I decided to trust Jillian and give them a go (against my gut feeling). OMG! Am I ever happy I did! I cannot tell you how happy  I am with them!! The fit? Perfect! The wash? Even more perfect! They are the perfect not too dumpy, but not too sexy pair… if you follow my Instagram stories you will notice I have been LIVING in them on the weekends, I am OBSESSED!!!!

I’m not going to lie, I ordered the exact outfit she was wearing, LOL.  I ordered the striped long sleeved body suit, and these overalls.  I adore the outfit- but I must say this look shown below is a little more me! I adore anything blush, I am a huge crop top fan and I cannot get enough of sneakers lately, so I incorporated these elements into this look.   And that is exactly what we bloggers are trying to do!  Feed you with inspiration and the knowledge so you can experiment with new trends but also go out and make a style your own!
