Friday Finds: Activewear & Accessories

If you set new goals of getting fit or even just moving more in 2020 this Friday Finds post is for you. There is nothing like new workout outfit to get me motivated to keep crushing my fitness goals, you with me?

Speaking of fitness goals, this year I am trying to move every day. That doesn’t necessarily mean going to the gym or having an intense workout. It can be going for a walk with Sunny, finding a quick 20 min workout video on Youtube, or heading to my favourite yoga class! I will continue to go to Orange Theory because I love it, but if I don’t make it to a class I’m not going to write that day off, instead I will challenge myself to find another form of movement!

Here’s a few things that caught my eye this week! Some I own and lots I’m lusting over. I have also linked my favourite American Eagle leggings, the ones that are very similar to the Lululemon Aligns. I own these and LOVE them. I don’t workout in the coloured ones as they show sweat, but I do wear the black ones to to the gym and they’re great! I wear a size small- short… if you’re looking for a more affordable alternative to the Align leggings, I highly suggest these.

If you’re reading this and you’re a regular at the gym, be patient and be kind to those entering or reentering the fitness world. Make people feel comfortable, offer help if they need it, and smile… we often forget what a simple smile means to someone. I understand January can be annoying for people who hit the gym regularly. It’s hard to get into classes, the machines and parking lots are full, BUT everyone has a right to be there. So, instead of making fun of people for using the New Year as a time to set new goals and wishing for people to fall off the band wagon let’s encourage, support and support them!

New Balance Athleisure Wear || Sport Chek

I don’t know about where you live but May has been absolutely gorgeous! With that being said, we have totally earned it… the winter was long and early spring felt even longer! Now that the summer temperatures have decided to grace us with their presence, it is rare to find me inside. I often get questions about how I balance blogging, teaching and just life in general. Truthfully, there are lots of different things that help me manage my schedule, but staying active is by far the most important for me. In my mind, staying active doesn’t necessarily mean going to the gym. Yes- it is important, but if I’m going to be realistic I am not as consistent as I would like to be in that department. To me, staying active can mean taking Sunny (or in this case my nephew puppy, Duke) for a walk, going for a bike ride, kayaking, going for a jog, hiking, or yoga in the park! Being outside and active in some form or another is exactly what I need to keep my mind focussed and my body healthy. Spring and summer is so conducive to this sort of lifestyle. The sun is shining and people are excited to be out of hibernation mode.

Because Teach Me Style is a fashion focussed blog this post wouldn’t be complete without me talking about where I find all my favourite athleisure looks. If you’ve been following along for a while, you would know that Sport Chek is my favourite place to find athletic wear. There’s a few reasons why I love shopping at Sport Chek! First, it’s Canadian company, which means their pricing online is in Canadian currency- isn’t it annoying when you’re shopping on a website and you don’t realize it’s in USD? You finally get to the checkout only to realize the price is nearly double what you thought because you forgot about the conversion… annoying! Second, there’s NO duty because again, it is a Canadian company! And last, the selection is amazing. If you decide to take a look, I suggest you grab a coffee and carve out some time to do so! Before you know it, an hour will have passed an you’ll be pages and pages deep into their products, happy shopping!

One of my favourite brands they carry is New Balance. It is well known that NB makes some of the most comfortable shoes around. These NB Women’s 574 Sport shoes are no exception! They’re perfect for a casual walk with the dogs or even running errands- they’ll have you looking fresh and feeling comfortable!

Can we talk about how refreshing it is to be outside without one million layers on!? I live in leggings all winter so the second the temperatures hit above zero I am all about shedding layers and grabbing for my shorts and tanks– get me some SUN!!!

Athleisure. Whoever is in charge of bringing this trend to life, THANK YOU! It’s no surprise I love to dress up. Heels, skirts, lace, frills, I’m into ALL things girly and I love dressing up. However, I would be lying if I said I am not obsessing over this athleisure trend. Being on trend while feeling comfortable… it’s a win, win! Whether you’re a mom on the go, a tired teacher on the weekend, or you’re on your way to your next workout a great athleisure outfit is a must right now.
