Flashback Friday: Mykonos

Wooooo, we made it through another week and that means it’s time for Flashback Friday… my last stop was Paris, up next Mykonos!!

Brandon and I spent a significant amount of time in Greece. Between Athens and hopping between the islands, we mutually agreed that Mykonos was our favorite stop in that country. The combination of the amazing food, our hotel, the beaches, and the overall friendly vibe made it a winner in our books.

Let me give you the run down of why we thought Mykonos was the s*it.

The beaches: When I think back to our time in Mykonos, I instantly think of the amazing beaches. Whether you want to relax on the beach with a book and the sound of waves crashing or hit up a beach party at 10am, Mykonos is the place for you. Here are some of our favorite beaches:

Psarou Beach- Yachts on yachts on yachts is what you’ll see lining the shores of this beautiful beach. Chill vibes, beautiful views, good music, and even though we didn’t see any, I am told celebrities love this little spot. There is also a little rock you can swim out to and stand on, it looks like you’re walking on water or standing on a whale…COOL!

Paradise Beach: You want to party? This is the beach for you! Paradise beach is one of Mykonos’ most famous beaches attracting a young crowd for their day and night beach parties. We showed up around 11am and the party had already started… I am not a huge club go-er but this place was seriously fun… who doesn’t love a good beach party?!

Platis Gialos: Another very popular beach on the island but for very different reasons than Paradise. This beach is family friendly offering umbrellas, sun beds, restaurants, and water sports!

Our Hotel: We stayed at the Pelican Bay Art Hotel in the Platis Gialos area of the island. I seriously cannot say enough amazing things about this place. This boutique style hotel was clean, beautifully decorated, and located in an awesome spot but it was the service that truly made us fall in love with this place. From the moment we checked in, the staff went over and above to make sure we enjoyed our stay, offering helpful tips and suggestions for things to do.

Entertainment: Mykonos is full of energy during the day and of course at night. We loved spending our evenings taking the bus into the town of Mykonos enjoying dinners along Little Italy, a strip of restaurants along the coast and walking through the narrow streets exploring the local shops. As mentioned before, we are not big club go-ers but we ended up going to Paradise Beach Club one evening with some friends we had made. One thing led to the next and before we knew it, the sun was rising and we were still partying… a random night with new friends, isn’t that what traveling is all about!?

Food: Honestly, we ate at so many places during our stay and we didn’t have a poor meal.  We are diligent in using Yelp or Trip Advisor for dining and I suggest you do the same!  The greek salad, gyros, and fries with tzatziki were my fav… yummmmmm.

Platis Gialos Beach. There are lots of delicious restaurants along here… our hotel was just a short walk away.
